s : Hi Hannah , when did you start taking photos and have you had any kind of training?
h: I have always been a creative soul, but its only really been the past 5 years that photography has taken over my life. I try soo hard to take pictures everyday but with work its really not possible for me, unless I take the same style of picture everyday. Every since I was little I have always been creative and used my imagination. Photography gives me a chance to show that.
s: who is the photographer you most admire?
h: Goodness, I dont think I could choose just one photographer. I admire so many professional and non professional photographers. I will say though. I really admire my best girlfriend Keri-Anne. Her photography really inspires me. She has progressed sooo much and I learn so much from her work.s: I noticed that a lot of your photographs are self portraits is this something you’d like to carry on doing ?
h: To be honest the only reason I have me in my pictures is because I have no one else to model for me. Keri-Anne occasionally models for me but most the time its just me. I guess its easier as I know what I want.
s: Your photos seem very thought out , what is your process of setting a shoot up?
h: I dont think I really have a process. I do however use my scrapbook a lot for photograph ideas. If I find anything in magazines I cut them out and stick them in. I write any ideas that come to me in my scrap book. ITS A MESS, but I love it. I guess if I had a process it would be to find a beautiful location and see what that location does to my imagination.
s: What are your favourite things/ places to photograph?
h: Favourite things to photograph… This is a hard one. I think from my photographs so far I love taking pictures of places that spark my imagination. I love to show innocents in my work and childhood is a big subject as well. Forests, fields, old buildings and people are amazing things to photograph.
s: All of your photos have a lovely dreamy quality to them, is there a reason for this?
h: I think I do this because I am very much in to vintage things. I love old looking pictures. I was never into bold colours really. I love to use soft textures.
s: what are your ambitions for the future?
h: I just live life for now. I always use this saying from my fav movie Braveheart “YOUR HEART IS FREE. HAVE THE COURAGE TO FOLLOW IT.” I dont set my aims too high anymore, I just take one step at a time.
